Our Kitchen Renovations!

Hi everyone!

I’m really excited for you to see what we did with the kitchen. For some reason everyone always ends up hanging out in the kitchen so I wanted to make sure that it was a space worth hanging out in!

Before:

When we bought the house the kitchen was very closed off and dark. It was very 90s style and had the laundry in it. The flow of the house wasn’t being used to its full potential.

Before:

We took the wall down (this yellow one) to open the space up to the dining room area and make it one larger space that you can use as an eat in kitchen. We kept the laundry room closet and turned it into a pantry. We also added cabinets with a peninsula to create as much storage as possible and extra seating.

I tried to add little details everywhere that would pull it all together without overpowering the space.

All of the walls are white and the backsplash is 2×6 white subway tile with white grout. In the main kitchen area the subway tile is laid in the classic subway pattern while the other half of the kitchen is laid in the classic herringbone pattern.

Funny story! I wanted to put subway tile in the entire backsplash, BUT I wanted it in the classic herringbone pattern everywhere. My husband wanted it in the classic subway pattern everywhere so we compromised and did half & half and now we get so many compliments on it!

I got most of the decor and chairs I got from Kirklands which is amazing/dangerous for your wallet because you want to buy EVERYTHING!

  • Thankful sign was from Smallwoods.
  • I found similar stools on Amazon!
  • We have all LG stainless steel appliances.

We added shiplap under the counter where the peninsula is as a little touch in white still.

The open shelving was actually an idea we brought over from our previous house. I painted pipe for plumbing black and my husband hung them. Then I stained two pieces of wood and laid it on top of the pipes for a rustic/industrial look!

The table my husband made with the extra pieces of flooring in a herringbone pattern!

I hope you like it all as much as I do
