Our “new” house

I figured the best place to start is on the outside of the house! It feels silly to call it our new house because it has been almost 2 years since we purchased it, but it is new to the blog! When my husband found this house online, we were not even thinking about moving – or I guess I should say I wasn’t. It was the middle of the pandemic and we had such a cute house. The market was going crazy and my husband knew we’d be able to make money off our house.

Funny story – my husband kept asking me to go see this house and I kept telling him that we do not need a house that big because all I could think about it how much cleaning I would have to do… and I was right! Yes, we have a cleaning lady, but I have 4 kids so let’s be real here – the cleaning never ends!

before:

Finally, once he convinced me to come see the house, the reason I said “fine, we can buy it” was the CLOSETS! Thankfully, we have so many closets so with the chaos of all the children, at least I have places to put all of their stuff. I did also love that each kid would have their own bedroom – once we put up a couple walls.

after:

We painted the front door the color Grey Mist by Behr – it is the perfect light grey! We had to take the vines off of the bottom of the house, patch it and ended up painting it with exterior paint and primer – 2 in 1. I linked some simple decorations in the front to make it feel like home.

The Onyx colored Cambridge Sherwood Collection with Armortec pavers were the perfect choice for what we wanted to keep it classic and neutral.

When we bought the house it had External Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS) which we were advised to switch because of the possibility of mold growing behind it if it was not installed properly. We choose to switch it to hardie plank lap siding 8.25″ in white for most of the replacement, hardie panel vertical siding for the board and batten on the right side of the front of the house and hardie shingle straight edge panels to accent the top triangle of the house.

Of course, because I love updating, I’m thinking about putting wooden shutters on the windows on the front of the house, but I guess that will be down the line!

I cannot wait to show everyone what we did with the inside of this house because it looks completely different than when we bought it. We’ll head inside next week <3
